Marjani Welch is a 10th grader who joined Journalism because she was interested in reporting about sports. Her intention is to ask people their opinions and educate them. Marjani has past experience with Journalism because she had written some papers in her 8th grade online class. She primarily enjoys ice hockey, with her favorite NHL team being the Los Angeles Kings. She got into sports at the age of 6 and her father was her inspiration to start hockey as well as Wayne Gretzky. She is on a club hockey team, the El Segundo Strikers, and a part time figure skater. Marjani plans on playing ice hockey until the end of high school. Some of her other favorite sports include American football, volleyball, tennis, basketball, and figure skating. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out at the Toyota Sports Performance Center, which is her home rink. Here she is a scorekeeper and is able to skate in her rink for free. Marjani also enjoys hanging out with her friends and coworkers, sitting in the break room, scavenging through interesting items from the storage closet, eating the ice rink cafe food and talking to her favorite coaches. Apart from hockey, she is planning on going to college and majoring in sports broadcasting.
