Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien, Miss Grand International 2021, has been arrested in Vietnam for her role in promoting Kera Supergreens Gummies, a dietary supplement falsely advertised as high in fibre. Tests revealed the gummies contained only 16mg of fibre per serving, far below the claimed 200mg, and relied on sorbitol, a laxative ingredient, to create digestive effects.
Authorities declared the product counterfeit, citing misleading claims such as being “the equivalent of one plate of vegetables.” Over 135,000 units were sold, generating more than $650,000 in revenue.
Tien co-owned the product with social media influencers Pham Quang Linh and Hang Du Muc, both of whom were arrested in April. All three had previously issued public apologies and were fined, but the case escalated following further investigation.
Tien has since deleted all promotional posts, but now faces criminal charges for deceiving consumers. The Miss Grand International organization has not commented on the situation.
