LAKE COUNTY, Ind. – A forensic autopsy confirmed the tragic details of a suspected murder-suicide that occurred Friday night in Gary, Indiana.

Lake County 911 received a call at 11:22 p.m. on May 16 reporting a double fatality at a residence located at 435 Clark Rd.

Family members at the scene identified the victim as 21-year-old Chasity Shorter, who was four months pregnant. The autopsy, completed May 17, determined her cause of death to be gunshot wounds, with the manner of death ruled as homicide.

The suspected shooter was identified as 21-year-old Brice Taylor, also by family at the scene. A forensic autopsy confirmed he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, with the manner of death ruled as suicide.
